Design New Bonus-Malus System

 

Since its introduction, bonus-malus system (BMS) has been widely discussed in theory and implemented in practice as the most common a posteriori ratemaking method in automobile insurance.

Dr. Rahim Mahmoudvand, an SDAT member, in collaboration with Dr. Chong It at the Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics, Australian National University, Australia, and Dr. Narges Abbasi at the department of Statistics, Payame Noor University (PNU), Iran, is working on a project that propose an integrated approach to adjust the premium relativities in a bonus-malus system by using the information of the first claim time (expressed in terms of sub-period in a year) and the number of claims reported by individual policyholder.
